Nuvali launched NUCinema, the Nuvali Short Film Competition. With the advent of the independent film movement in the country, the last few years saw the market for small-budgeted, shot-in-digital format movies.

In association with the Asia Pacific Film Institute, the film competion aims to highlight NUVALI’s philosophy of sustainability and turn the spotlight to its attractions and developments through films entirely shot around the vast and bustling residential and commercial community in Sta. Rosa, Calamba, and Cabuyao in Laguna.

These two components, nature and video, come together in the first ever NuCinema: NUVALI Short Film Competition whose theme revolves around “Nature’s power and wonder, through the eye of man.”

The country’s award-winning filmmakers will be the judges in selecting the best among entries in the NUCinema.

Paul Soriano will be part of the NUCinema judges. Soriano is known in the industry as top commercial director. In 2011, he won Best Director for the movie Thelma.

The other judges are Jade Castro whose 2007 Endo proved that he is one of the best directors in the country today.

NUCinema provide saspiring filmmakers a new platform to showcase their work. Through NUCinema Short Film Competition, Nuvali is committed in making every day dedicated to Mother Earth. Five films will be selected from the shortlist of 15. Each of the winning entries will be given a scholarship grant to the Asia Pacific Film Institute Deadline for submission of the completed short films is on or before Oct. 20.
