Borja, Noble top STK tilt at Anvaya

BOOSTED by a strong performance in the swim leg where he finished second, Zedrick James Borja triumphed in the 11-12 boys Super Tri Kids action of the 9th Anvaya Cove Invitational Triathlon last Saturday afternoon at the Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club in Bataan.

Borja, a Philippine team member, emerged out of the water a few seconds behind Daniel Nazarro after the 300-meter swim leg and stepped on the gas in the 4K bike leg and 2K run leg to bag the gold in 18 minutes and 38 seconds.

Navarro salvaged second in 20:23 while Juan Miguel Tayag was third in 21:11.

Alison Ann Noble shared center stage, ruling the 11-12 girls action in 21:46 after taking a huge lead in the bike leg of the event sponsored by Ayala Land Premier, Globe Telecom, Folded & Hung, A.C. Lazaga, Veda Spa, Island Fantasy, Gatorade, and Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines, among others.

Katrina Suarez came up with a strong run to finish second in 22:23 while Finela Bianca Silamor was a distant third in 36:28.

In the 9-10 triathlon race (200M swim, 2K bike, 1Km run) for boys, Dayshaun Karl Ramos won in 13:37 followed by Connor Thomas Hodges (14:27) and Mark Grist (16:03). The girls race saw Aubrey Tom (15:23) and Calista Felisa Silamor (18:53) as the only participants.

The aquathlon (25M swim, 200M run) for participants aged 8-10 years-old was ruled by Maria Sabine Magsanoc in 1:21, followed by Angel Cenizal (1:28) and Jazmine Fay Borja (1:35). The boys’ race had a photo finish between champion Evan Arrow Ramos and Sky Guevarra timing almost identically at 1:12. The bronze went to Ener Antonio Regis who clocked 1:32.

Due to typhoon Karen, the Triathlon Association of the Philippines and Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club reset the rest of the events to Nov. 6.
