REAL estate giant Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) will start the development and beautification of the Capitol Lagoon and Park in Bacolod City on Saturday, December 3.
Provincial Administrator Leonardo Eusebio said Thursday that the P25- million development will start with the improvement of the path walks.
He said Ayala Land is coordinating with the Provincial Engineer’s Office and the National Historical Society to preserve the park’s historical landmarks.
The development is part of the P750-million purchase agreement between ALI and the Provincial Government.
Ayala and Capitol signed lease and sale contracts involving the 7.7-hectare prime property in Bacolod, which totaled to P6 billion.
Eusebio said that among the proposed developments included in the design are replacement of the fence with hedges, installation of lighting, and playground, adding that it would be “environmentally-friendly.”
During the presentation of the development plan to Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. last year, ALI vice president Jojo Lopez had said the highlights of the park improvement project will be around the lagoon area.
He said there will be new perimeter hedges, repaved walkways, and new platforms for fish feeding as an additional leisure activity so people can engage the lagoon up close.
