Eijansantos triumphs

November 6, 2011, 10:38pm

MANILA, Philippines — Kevin Lyndonn Eijansantos put on a courageous performance to rule the 4th Anvaya Cove International Triathlon yesterday at the Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club (ACBNC) in Morong, Bataan.

The 19-year-old Eijansantos won the race in wire to wire fashion afterclocking two hours, 13 minutes and 30 seconds in the extended race course of 1.2K swim, 32K bike and 6K run.

Heavy rains in the morning made the event, organized by ACBNC in partnership with Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP), Globe Business and Ayala Land Premier, a lot tougher.

He also weathered off the spirited challenge of Marc Alexander Altura and last year’s champion Levy Ang to win the event.

He shared the limelight with Franchesca Carpo who won the distaff side – thanks to her impressive showing in the third and final loop of the bike event also supported by Gatorade, Century Tuna, Pacific Winds, Folded And Hung, Havianas, ROX, Fitness Magazine and Subic Shutter Club.

A record 169 triathletes took part in the event that saw Bacolod pride Mari Campos top the under-8 aquathlon event while siblings Samantha Nalo and Nathan Nalo from Pampanga rule the girls U-8 aquathlon and boy’s 11-12 STK categories, respectively.

THE Ayala Land Technohub at Camp John Hay was formally opened and blessed last October 27, 2011.

Gracing the occasion were Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) president Antonino Aquino, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and CEO Arnel Paciano Casanova, Esq., John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) president and CEO Jamie Eloise Manzano-Agbayani, M.D., and Camp John Hay Development Corporation EVP and COO Alfredo Yniguez III.

The Technohub, ALI’s first integrated mixed-use development, is comprised of call centers, a number of restaurants, other retail stores and offices spaces.

Phase 1 of the development includes a BPO building now occupied by Convergys and a retail complex, which now holds Pancake House, Pan de Manila, 7-11, BPI, Army Navy, Starbucks and Yellow Cab. By the end of the year, Everything Nice, Pizza Volante, Seafood Island, Bratpack, Res-Toe-Run and R.O.X, a multi-brand store showcasing a variety of active and outdoor brands, are expected to open.

The Ayala development in Camp John Hay, worth around P3 billion upon completion in five years, is geared towards capturing the fast-growing niche in business process outsourcing in Baguio City, as well as the dynamic tourism industry.

It is believed that ALI chose Camp John Hay as its location for its Technohub because of the tax incentives and business-friendly environment within the John Hay Special Economic Zone.

BCDA and JHMC welcome the Ayala developments in the CJH as it will substantially increase employment in the city and spur the local economies within the BLISTT.

It is expected to generate among locals some 20,000 jobs, most from the business process outsourcing aspect. (PR)
